How waste company SIMAS got started on LinkedIn

The inter-municipal waste company in Sogn wants to present itself as an attractive employer, keep up with the times and reach new target groups.

There are many good reasons to jump on the LinkedIn bandwagon. The channel is the social media Norwegians trust the most, there are fewer companies present and less competition for attention. Last but not least, it has the potential to reach out to different people than other channels.

The right content for the right target group

Advisor Jørn Mortensen in SIMAS.

SIMAS previously used channels such as its own website, Facebook and Instagram.

But on LinkedIn, they want to talk to other people, with a different type of content:

- In most channels, we communicate to our subscribers as private individuals," explains SIMAS advisor Jørn Mortensen.

- But on LinkedIn, it's possible to meet slightly different people in a slightly different mode. Journalists, politicians, civil servants and the like. Not least, it's a good place to do employer branding with a view to recruitment.

This means they also have to adapt the content. That's one of the things Gasta helps with.

A little push from Gasta

SIMAS had long thought that LinkedIn could be something for them, but didn't quite know where to start.

- Gasta gave us a push, and that was basically great. They created a professional profile and helped with the first posts. That's how we got started, and it became not just something we talked about doing, but something we actually did," says Mortensen.

The new channel provides information about what's going on in SIMAS, projects and events, how they communicate with citizens - in short, how they work to achieve the vision "Resources on the right track". In other words, there is less focus on how to sort waste in everyday life, and more focus on placing SIMAS in a larger context.

In a short time, they have received a lot of engagement on their posts, and over 100 regular followers who want to receive regular updates from them. We at Gasta are looking forward to further collaboration and seeing where the journey takes us!
