Many people ask us about integration between Vipps and Squarespace. Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions related to this.
Does Squarespace support payment via Vipps?
The simple answer is no. Squarespace's solution for online stores does not have payment via Vipps as standard.
What other payment methods does Squarespace support today?
The integrated payment solutions in Squarespace are Stripe (which supports most standard credit cards), ApplePay and PayPal.
What is Squarespace Payments?
In 2023, Squarespace launched its own payment solution called Squarespace Payments. It supports all standard credit cards in addition to ApplePay, AfterPay and not least Klarna. Squarespace has announced that they will add support for more payment methods in the near future. Squarespace Payments is available in USA, Canada and UK (2024). We currently have no information about when Payments will be launched in Scandinavia.
Will there be support for Vipps in the future?
There are a lot of Norwegian customers who want this, so our fingers are crossed! But if Vipps is supported, it will be via Squarespace Payments.
The company has ambitious plans for Payments, and we will of course update our customers the day Vipps becomes available.
What options do I have if I want to offer Vipps?
If you want to use Vipps as your payment method, you still have a few options:
Manual payment via Vipps: Your paying customers must go into the Vipps app and complete the order/payment, regardless of your website. Remember that you must clearly state on your website how this is done, and that the customer must still have a place to submit order details. Vipps is not integrated on your website, but they can exist side by side as a simplified alternative.
Well another online store solution: We recommend Shopify which is a very good tool. Although Gasta mainly works with Squarespace, we also have some customers in Shopify and can offer help with this.
