Now you can upload video directly to Squarespace

We all watch more and more video online.

Video has become more important than ever. With a new update, Squarespace has made it even easier to publish videos on the website.

A number of studies show that we are watching more and more video online. In social media, on websites we visit and via streaming services like Netflix. As video becomes an ever-increasing part of our daily lives, you should consider whether this is something your website can benefit from.

Spend more time on websites with video

Video and "moving images" can give your website a visual boost and at the same time be useful for the user. Did you know that visitors spend an average of 88% more time on a website with video than on a website without it?

Many of us prefer to watch video rather than read, so it's important to play along with the user. Video is a good format for explaining, informing and telling about products and services. Not least, video has its own ability to evoke emotions.

Upload video: Select "Video" from the menu. Click "Add a video" to upload the file.

How to upload video to Squarespace

Where you previously had to upload video to the website via YouTube or Vimeo, you can now upload the movie directly to Squarespace.

Click on the plus sign to add a new element, as you are used to adding text or images.

Select "Video" from the menu that appears. You can then click "Add a Video" to upload a video from your computer.

Note that the file must be in one of these formats: .mp4, .m4v, .mov.

30 minutes of video per website

As of now, each individual Squarespace website can have up to 30 minutes of video stored in total. This means that you can, for example, have three videos of 10 minutes each, or 10 videos of 3 minutes each.
