Now an AI can give you the answer in Google's search engine

SEO

The race to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into search engines is well underway. There's a lot happening on this front these days, and Google's latest launch is among the most exciting.

Google has already been working with what they call Search Generative Experience (SGE). This means that they use artificial intelligence to create better search results for us users.

But now they've taken it one step further. At the Google I/O conference last week, they showed how their AI Gemini will be used in search results.

Med AI Overviews the user gets answers generated by artificial intelligence (AI) directly in the results list on Google's search engine.

In practice, this means that when you type in a search phrase, an AI "thinks about it" and gives you the answer directly in the result list.

The feature has initially been launched in the US and seems to have room for improvement (to say the least). The plan is to roll it out to more and more people throughout the year.

Curious about what it looks like? There are a few examples of AI Overviews here.

All in all, this means that Google's search engine is smarter than ever before, and our websites must have even better content to come up as answers. Now we have to respond to what people are searching for, not just use the right keywords. And since Google tries to provide personalized search results, the content must be interesting to the particular person searching.

It's important to keep up with this to be visible on Google and get noticed online. Are you wondering how your Squarespace website can become more visible? Talk to us about SEO.

Now you have to answer what people are wondering about, not just use the right keywords.
