Effective AI tools in Squarespace

Squarespace has recently introduced several AI tools to make website optimization even more efficient. Here we have summarized them for you!

Metatext and alt text on images

  • Good meta texts are important for making your website visible in search engines. A meta text tells what your website is about in the hit list that appears in a search engine. So this is where the reader decides whether they want to click on your page or not. And this doesn't just apply to your main page, it applies to all subpages you want people to click on.

  • Alt text on images tells what is shown in the image. This is a requirement for universal design, as this text is read out to those who cannot see the image. So you should have this in place.

That's why it's great that Squarespace has now put in place an AI tool that does this for you with just a few keystrokes. You can also review and adjust if something goes wrong.

To generate SEO descriptions and alternative text for your website:

  1. First, you need to make sure you have created a brand identity on your website. You can read more about that here .

  2. Under settings, find Marketing and click on SEO Appearance.

  3. Here you will find the Improve with AI button

  4. The tool scans your page, finds areas where this is lacking, and suggests new texts – based on your brand.

  5. You can generate new suggestions or edit them manually before saving.

Generate content with AI

Squarespace has an integrated AI content generation tool to help you create text, or improve the text you already have on your website. They've had this for a while, but now it's also available in Norwegian.

By entering simple keywords into a text field, the AI tool can suggest content that you can edit and customize – saving you time and providing inspiration. Or you can get help shortening or lengthening existing paragraphs.

  1. Click into an existing or new text field on the web page.

  2. Press the three dots and choose whether you want paragraph , pitch or blurp.

  3. Remember to prompt in Norwegian or include "in Norwegian" to bring up the text in Norwegian.

  4. You can then choose whether you want to simplify, shorten or lengthen the text.

Simple and effective! You can also use this to create a new blog post, find content for newsletters or add product information. Remember, the more prompt, the better the results.

Try AI-generated wallpapers

To add a background image to a section of your page, you can choose from a selection of AI-generated images, patterns, or gradients. Here's how to add an AI-generated background:

  1. Click Edit on the page, then Edit section on the section you want to edit.

  2. Click on Background .

  3. Click on "+" and Browse backgrounds .

  4. Under Stock backgrounds you can find images, patterns or gradients.

  5. When you find a background you like, click on it and select add image .

Then just play around and see which tools make your work more efficient. Wondering which software provider Squarespace uses as the basis for its AI tools? Open AI, Anthropic, and Google.

Good luck!
