Is your business visible when AI searches answer your customers' questions?
We are increasingly getting direct answers from AI services like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google AI Overview, rather than a list of links. In Gasta We work according to five important principles to make your business visible in AI searches.
Google Search is changing, and so is the way they should approach online visibility. If your business is to be mentioned when AI answers questions from customers and prospects, your content must be clear, credible, and easy to understand.
The field is often called Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) or Answer Engine Optimization (AEO). We in Gasta Keep it simple and just call it AI search.
Our 5 principles for visibility in AI search
1. Traditional SEO is the foundation
It's important to understand this: AI search does not replace SEO, but builds on it. A technically sound website is at least as important as before, and that means:
use good page titles and meta descriptions
write alt text on images
have fast loading time
ensure mobile-friendly design
use a clear structure with headings
This makes it easier for both search engines and AI to understand your content.
2. Create content that answers questions
AI-based search engines analyze content from thousands of websites. The goal is to find the most relevant and credible sources before compiling an answer. They pay particular attention to websites that:
has a clear structure
answers questions directly
shows professional competence
is mentioned by other credible sources
are easy to read and understand
In short: AI wants to give the user the best answer. Traditional SEO has long been about keywords. AI is more about intent. Therefore, it is smart to ask yourself:
What are our customers really wondering about?
What questions do we often receive by phone or email?
What can we explain better than our competitors?
Articles that answer specific questions have a much greater chance of being used by AI.
3. Show that you are an expert (EEAT)
AI not only considers what you write, but also who writes it. Therefore, it is important to show that the content comes from someone with experience and expertise , that the business has authority in the field, and that the information is trustworthy . This is not new, Google has long talked about EEAT: Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness.
You can strengthen this by:
Show who is behind the content by using Author on blog posts, for example, as we do in Gasta does
publish customer case
use sources and documentation
update content regularly
have clear contact and information pages
4.Write simply
AI prefers content that is easy to understand. That means
short paragraphs
good headlines
bullet points
FAQ sections (=Accordion block in Squarespace)
simple language
Many AI models quote bulleted lists and questions/answers almost verbatim. AI understands the context of the text and assesses whether the content actually provides value. So write for humans first and foremost. If the content answers the question well, it will usually also perform well in AI searches.
5. Build authority outside your own website
AI relies more on businesses that are mentioned in more places than just their own website. That's why it's smart to work with:
media coverage
good customer reviews
Google Business Page
LinkedIn
Reddit and relevant professional forums
partners who link to you
The more credible sources that mention your business, the stronger your digital authority signals become.
