A good footer can get you more customers

A well-thought-out footer creates trust, provides overview and helps the user move forward. Here we show what a good footer should contain.

The footer of Gasta .no

Many people have a footer in place, but far from everyone uses it actively. The footer is more than just information, it affects how your business is perceived and can strengthen both identity and professionalism.

Additionally, a good footer can boost your visibility in search engines and AI searches, so it's a good idea to invest some time in improving your footer.

This is what the footer should contain:

  • Contact information and basic information: Make it easy to get in touch. Email, phone number and preferably address (or at least city). It is advisable to have clickable links on email and phone number, so that it is quick and easy to get in touch.

  • Navigation: If you have a lot of content, it can be smart to link to important pages that are not necessarily in the main menu. For example: About us, Services, Job openings, FAQ or customer service.

  • Legal and trust. This is more important than many people think. Provide links to privacy and the use of cookies. Feel free to include your organization number. This signals seriousness.

  • Social media. Links to relevant channels (but only those they actually actively use).

  • Certifications and awards: Are you an Environmental Lighthouse? A Gazelle company? Or do you have other relevant certifications? Then it's good to include these in the footer – preferably as logos for quick visual trust. Feel free to link to a subpage that explains more about the work behind it.

  • Call to action (optional, but smart): For example: Sign up for newsletter, book a meeting or download something. The footer is a great place for low-threshold conversion.

If you run an online store, this is a must

For those of you who run an online store, the footer is absolutely central. Both to create security and to meet requirements.

Customers considering making a purchase will often look for practical information before making a decision. That's why it's important that your terms and conditions are easily accessible, so that the customer understands how the purchase works in terms of payment, delivery and liability. This is required by law.

In addition, you must have clear information about both the right of withdrawal and return. The customer must know what rights they have if something is not right, and how they proceed. This is also required by law, and is absolutely crucial to creating security in the purchasing process.

You must also provide information about privacy and the use of cookies. This is a natural part of a professional website today, and helps create transparency around how you handle data.

When these elements are in place in the footer, you make it both easier and safer for the customer to choose you.
