New website and clearer message for the Sogna region

Six municipalities, many collaborations and lots of good content. With a new website, the Sogna region has gained a clearer digital profile and a structure that makes it easier to show what they are working on and find out about everything that is happening across the municipalities.

The Sogna region is a collaboration between Aurland, Lærdal, Årdal, Luster, Sogndal and Vik. Here, collaboration takes place on everything from social and business development to mobility, climate and shared municipal services.

With many subject areas, projects and target groups, there was a lot to fit on the new website. The goal was to clean up, structure and make it easier to understand both what the Sogna region is and what they work on.

Good templates and good teamwork

We have developed the design and built the website in Squarespace, with templates and fixed layouts that make it easier to present different types of content in a neat and holistic way.

The Sogna region itself has done a great job of cleaning, structuring and adding the content. Along the way, we have helped with layout, adjustments and mobile adaptation, so that the pages work well across screen sizes.

There have been many aspects to keep track of, but also very good collaboration between the customer and us throughout the entire process.

How do you actually draw a region?

As part of the project, we were also given a slightly different challenge: We were to create an illustration that showed the cooperation between the six municipalities.

Simple, right?

Well. There were a few rounds of brainstorming.

Sogn is made up of six municipalities, but at the same time one region. The municipalities are connected by the Sognefjord, while the fjord also divides the landscape. How do you convey all of this in one simple illustration?

After sketches, ideas and a few rounds of back and forth, our designer Hilde Nes landed on the solution. A simple illustration showing the six municipalities, the fjord that connects them and the idea behind the whole collaboration:

One region. Shared power.

We think she hit it really well.

The pages are now out!

The result is a website that will make it easier to find out everything that is happening across the municipalities and at the same time show how much actually happens when six municipalities pull in the same direction.

Many thanks to the Sogna region for the trust, the good cooperation and for being so good to work with. We think the result has been really nice and hope they do the same!
