ChatGPT Ads has been launched in Norway
A new advertising channel has been rolled out in Norway. Access is currently limited, but the possibilities are exciting.
ChatGPT Ads is now part of a larger European rollout. Initially, advertising will be delivered through OpenAI's Ads Solutions team and select partners, before gradually opening the solution to more people.
For Norwegian businesses, this means that a completely new advertising channel is in place. And we will of course follow the development and test the possibilities when we get access.
Customer journey starts in new locations
Over the past year, we have seen a clear shift in how we search for information. Where Google used to be the natural place to start, more and more people are turning to ChatGPT and other AI tools for help.
We use AI to research products and services, compare alternatives, find suppliers, and plan trips. A large part of the research phase can therefore take place without the customer visiting the company's website.
For those of us who work with digital marketing, it is becoming more difficult to capture potential customers early in the customer journey. And that is precisely why advertising in ChatGPT becomes so interesting.
Become visible in the research phase
As the solution is presented so far, relevant ads will be able to appear below the organic response from ChatGPT. This gives us the opportunity to reach potential customers while they are researching and comparing products and services.
This could be one of the great advantages of advertising in AI tools: becoming visible early in the customer journey, while the customer is still considering their alternatives.
Good prompts are important
One of the most interesting things is how the ads will be set up. Here, good prompts and relevant content will play an important role.
The prompt should, among other things, describe the product or service, the goal of the ad, the target audience, and what guidelines should be followed. The better information ChatGPT receives, the better the system has a basis for understanding when the ad is relevant.
There must also be a clear common thread between the target audience, message and landing page. In addition, the ad must include a favicon, product image, headline and description, among other things.
How does it work in practice?
We still don't have all the answers about how advertising in ChatGPT will work when the solution becomes available to more people. Among other things, it remains to be seen what opportunities we will have for targeting, optimization and analysis.
What we do know is that results should be trackable by linking an extension to the website. This will provide better insight into the traffic and results the ads are generating.
The customer journey is already changing, and ChatGPT Ads gives us a new way to be visible. We look forward to testing, learning, and seeing what role this advertising channel will play in the future.
